Peptide
- A peptide links the small parts found in proteins into a short chain. Proteins are longer chains that do jobs in the body, such as helping cells move.
TB-500
- A lab-made peptide that copies a small piece of thymosin beta-4. It has a small extra chemical piece attached at one end.
Thymosin beta-4
- The larger natural protein; research on it cannot simply stand in for research on TB-500.
FDA
- The short name for the US medicines agency, the Food and Drug Administration.
FDA approval
- A review of a particular medicine for a named use; TB-500 has no US approval as of September 2026.
Compounding
- Making a medicine for a patient’s particular need, instead of supplying a drug company’s ready-made product.
Compounded medicine
- FDA does not approve these preparations as of September 2026, and it does not check their safety, effects and quality before they reach the market.
Telehealth
- A care conversation through video, a phone call or online messages, with the people in separate places.
Clinician

State medical board
- The state body that keeps doctor licence records. Its public records can show punishments for breaking the board’s rules, or a case the board has brought that is still open.
State board of pharmacy
- This state body licenses pharmacies; its records allow a check of a pharmacy’s name.
Nominated but withdrawn
- A group asked FDA to add an ingredient to a list pharmacies may use, then took the request back. For TB-500, this is not FDA approval as of September 2026.
Advisory committee
- A group giving FDA advice; a vote by that group does not itself change the law as of September 2026.
Purity
- How free the tested substance is from other material. A high TB-500 purity result does not show that germs, harmful material from bacteria (a kind of germ), and clumps are absent.
Immunogenicity
- The possibility that the body’s defence system reacts to an injected substance.
Adverse event
- An unwanted experience linked in time to use of a medical product; a report alone cannot show that the product caused it.
Formulary
- An insurance plan’s medicines list showing what it pays for.
Prior authorization
- An insurer’s agreement to payment that is needed in advance.
MedWatch
- FDA’s service where patients as well as health professionals can report a medical product problem.

Match the record to the question.
An approval record tells you whether a medicine has approval for a named use. A study report tells you what was tested and what was found. Neither promises what will happen to you.
Read the date, the name of the substance and the way it was tested. Bring any mismatch to the care discussion.
